After 12 years of activity and production in cartography, ANAVASI maps have been acknowledged as the most trustworthy, being detailed, of high quality and reliable.
But no matter how good a map may be, it remains an abstract image of a place.
In our new publishing venture, the aerial photography books published under the general title “As the Seagull Flies”, we are creating what we think is a companion for a map in scanning a place.
Aerial photography, a kin to cartographical imaging, offers what is missing from a map: light, texture, the colour of a place, the peculiarities of the local architecture; the human touch of a hut, a small church, or a stone wall in an inhospitable landscape.
The aim of these books is to describe the regions dealt with in pictures, to highlight the beauty and eternal values of the Greek landscape, and particularly the human element – a colossal work in terms of time and work.
